Hey March.
Movers and shakers often use marching as a form of civil resistance to blaze new trails and protest for what they believe. March (the month) is also Women’s History month in the United States. Some so many women have campaigned for equality and equity. March 8th is International Women’s Day, where women all over the world unite to eliminate discrimination against women!
What better example of a boss woman than Mrs. Gabrielle Union-Wade? Her vulnerability, courage, and wit prove that we can go into rooms as our full selves. She champions for sexual assault awareness, speaks out against workplace discrimination, supports the LGBTQIA+ community, and much more.
Tacit learning is real. Over time I’ve just developed better (more enhanced skills). This month’s drawing was sort of easy…. I feel like I’m bragging. I truly enjoyed creating this illustration while catching up on my Bravo shows that played in the background. I am proud of myself, I think the hair is bomb, the pattern of the pants are killer, and the background color – supreme!. Go me! 🙂
It wasn’t all rosy. As you can see, noses are still nonexistent. However, that may become my signature. Who knows? The shadow creases on the sweatshirt are slightly more amateur than I would like. The curly ‘fro required more technique than I had. I watched a few YouTube videos to make sure I had the hair down. My future iterations will have the hair laid’n’slayed. The first quarter is done and I’ve created three illustrations that I’m proud of. In the upcoming months, I want to try playing with negative space, drawing couples/groups, etc. God bless humble beginnings.
See you in April!
